The maximum for the S5: four battery modules of 9.3 kWh, together 37.2 kWh under one 5 kW inverter. This is the largest single-phase configuration AlphaESS allows for this inverter.

This size suits a large household with heavy use: a heat pump, perhaps a swimming pool or a home office full of equipment, and a roof that heavily overproduces during the day. For most families this is too much battery. If in doubt, start with two or three modules instead, you can still expand later.

The datasheet lists the S5 with a range up to four modules. This package sits exactly at that limit, so you use the inverter up to its maximum battery capacity without exceeding the manufacturer's guidance.

The price is the inverter plus four modules added together and rounded down. You pay no more than ordering separately, and everything is arranged in one order.
