Pro Charging Station 22 kW with Socket, MID and Backplate

The Zaptec Pro is the heavier sibling of the Go. We supply it including the backplate, the mounting plate the charging station is fitted onto. With many suppliers you have to buy that separately, with us it is included in the price.

Why the backplate is included

The backplate is the connection box the supply cable lands on. Zaptec describes it as a design where the electrical work is separate from mounting the charging station itself. The installer connects the plate first, then the unit clicks onto it later. Without the plate you cannot connect the Pro, so we do not sell it separately.

The plate accepts cables from 2.5 to 10 square millimetres, with a cable diameter of 10 to 18.5 millimetres. The stated weight of roughly 5 kilos includes the backplate.

What the Pro does differently

It has a built-in MID Class B certified meter with a display showing the total kilowatt-hours charged. The Pro also complies with PTB-A 50.7, the German calibration law known as Eichrecht. That is relevant if you need to account for charging sessions in Germany.

Type B RCD protection is built in, as is a 3 by 40 A type C circuit breaker. That saves space in the meter cupboard. Place several Zaptec Pro units next to each other and they share the available power among themselves, switching per unit between single-phase and three-phase depending on what is free.

Communication can run over 4G LTE-M, wifi or powerline over the supply cable. That last route is exactly why the Pro is popular in car parks and with owners' associations: you do not need to run an extra data cable.

What to watch out for

For a single car on a private driveway this is too much charging station. The Go does the same job there for a good deal less money. The Pro becomes interesting once several charge points share one connection, or once you need to bill per user.

At 392 by 258 by 112 millimetres it is considerably larger than the Go. Measure the spot before you order.
