Home battery installation

What does the installation include?

Installing a home battery is more than hanging up a cabinet. The installer mounts the battery and the inverter, runs the cabling to your meter cupboard, fits a separate circuit with the right protection, connects the metering via the P1 port or a CT clamp, and configures the system. Afterwards he tests whether charging and discharging do what they should, and shows you where to see it in the app. Allow half a day to a full working day for a standard situation.

Basic or extended?

There are two packages, and the difference is the location. If the battery goes inside the home itself, near the meter cupboard, the basic package is enough. If it goes in the shed, the garage or on an outside wall, more cable is needed, sometimes a wall penetration and often extra protection. That is the extended package.

The current amounts are on the service page itself, since that is also where you pay. Above 10 kW we work with a tailored quote, because a larger system needs different protection and sometimes a heavier connection.

A site survey first

Before anyone shows up with tools, we check that your situation checks out. Is there space at the chosen spot, what does your meter cupboard look like, do you have one or three phases, and is there still room for an extra circuit. If that reveals something not included in the package, you hear about it beforehand and not on the day itself. That is exactly why we do that survey.

What is not included?

Being upfront about this saves hassle afterwards. A meter cupboard that needs to be made suitable for three-phase falls outside the package, as does replacing an outdated consumer unit. We offer those two separately, in three sizes for the consumer unit. Demolition work, scaffolding and work on materials suspected of containing asbestos are not included either.

Adapting your grid connection you arrange yourself with the grid operator. We can tell you what to apply for, but the application is in your name and that procedure in practice takes longer than the battery's delivery time. So start it in good time.

Additional work and warranty

If the installer runs into something not included in the package, it is billed afterwards at cost and only after a signed work order. No surprise bill dropping through the letterbox without you knowing about it beforehand. There is two years' warranty on the installation work. The warranty on the battery and the inverter themselves runs via the manufacturer and is on the product page.

We work throughout the Netherlands, except the Dutch Wadden Islands. All amounts include 21% VAT. The zero rate only exists for solar panels, not for batteries or installation work.

Do it yourself or have it done?

We will just say it plainly: connecting a home battery is work on your consumer unit, and in the Netherlands you are not allowed to do that yourself unless it is your trade. Separately from that, with most manufacturers the warranty is voided if the system has not been connected and registered by a certified installer. If you can genuinely do it yourself and hold the right qualifications, we simply sell you the equipment without installation.

What we take care of

We supply the battery, plan the site survey and arrange a certified installer who connects it to the Dutch NEN 1010 standard. You can add the installation to your basket alongside your battery, so it is all in one order. For the systems themselves, take a look at the home batteries, or the complete systems if you want battery and inverter in one go.

Frequently asked questions

How long does the installation take?

A standard placement inside the home takes half a day to a full working day. If a consumer unit needs replacing or the route is long, it becomes a full day or sometimes two.

Do I need to be present?

Yes, someone who can make decisions needs to be present. The installer needs access to your meter cupboard and to go through the work order with you at the end.

Can my battery run on single-phase?

Many systems can, but not all, and with a larger power three-phase is often needed. That comes out of the site survey. If your home is already on three-phase, you have more choice.

Does my battery work during a power outage?

Only with a backup power provision added, and that is a separate cabinet and extra switching work. Without that provision, the battery switches off on a grid outage, just like your solar panels.

Is there 0% VAT on the installation?

No. The zero rate only applies to solar panels. On a battery and on the installation work there is 21% VAT.
